Regional Day

Several members attended Regional day earlier this month (apologies for not blogging sooner) and we had a very enjoyable day. There were two very different speakers but both were entertaining and informative. George Hook told his very personal story about being the last man in Birmingham to make mother of pearl buttons. Lucy Adlington took us through the history of the Great War using women's clothing to tell her stories.

The standard of the competition entries was as high as ever and there were some really lovely pieces on display. Two of our member had success with the competitions. Jackie Gregory got a highly commended for her entry into “A flower beginning with D” and Irene Earl came second in the Coats Anchor Award on the theme of "Anchors Aweigh", and received a box of threads donated by Coats Anchor.
