When we have a speaker we are keen to find out where the inspiration
for their textile pieces come from so it was fascinating to hear how textiles
are the inspiration for award winning ceramic artist Clare Gage.
Clare studied at the University of Cumbria where she was
introduced to weaving. She also had an interest in ceramics and wanted to find
a way of combining both interests.
She creates hand woven forms which are then used to create a
mould. The textures are transferred to the porcelain to create beautiful “textile”
cups and other tableware.
